Penelope Antena
Bio
Penelope Antena évolue dans un univers musical marqué par un héritage familial prestigieux. Installée seule en pleine nature, sur les hauteurs de l’Occitanie, elle s’inscrit dans une tradition musicale qu’elle réinvente avec une approche résolument moderne. Avec Antelope, son premier album autoproduit sorti en 2019 chez KOWTOW RECORDS, elle a affirmé son talent de compositrice et productrice, se faisant remarquer comme une artiste visionnaire.
La musique coule dans ses veines : elle est la fille de la chanteuse Isabelle Antena, pionnière de l’Electro Samba, et la petite-fille du pianiste Marc Moulin, figure majeure du jazz européen et source d’inspiration pour des artistes comme Jay Dilla. Mais loin de simplement suivre les traces de sa famille, Penelope construit son propre univers musical en mêlant les genres. Son travail a déjà séduit des médias influents comme Rolling Stone, Marie Claire et France Inter.
Dans son Cedars Studio, entourée d’instruments transmis par sa famille, elle explore de nouvelles sonorités en alliant tradition et innovation, acoustique et électronique. Son prochain album, prévu pour 2021 sur le label new-yorkais Young Bloods, marque une nouvelle étape dans sa carrière, lui ouvrant les portes de la scène nord-américaine après le succès européen de Antelope.
Parmi ses récentes réalisations, elle a joué sur la scène mythique de La Villette à Paris, a tourné aux États-Unis à l’automne 2019, a sorti le titre 20 Down chez Young Bloods et a collaboré avec l’artiste de Minneapolis Peter M. Elle sort également en 2023 l’album acoustique James & June chez Parapente Records.
